1. Open syringe package and remove syringe, inspect clarity of solution, check the protective tip cap is in place.
2. With the protective tip cap of the syringe on push the plunger rod up to release the seal between the piston/plunger and the barrel.
3. Remove protective tip cap by twisting off aseptically.
4. Expel air by pushing plunger forward.
5. Connect flush syringe to catheter aseptically and push the plunger rod to flush the required volume according to the institution’s policy.
6. Discard the used syringe and residual part of solution. DO NOT RE-USE.
